The lyrics minus the non-sequitors

In order to really get to the heart of what LFO is trying to say, I present you the lyrics with the non-sequitors removed:

Yeah...I like it when the girls stop by.. In the summer
Do you remember, Do you remember?
...when we met..That summer??

I'd take her if I had one wish,
But she's been gone since that summer..

Met you one summer and it all began
You're the best girl that I ever did see,
Something in your eyes went and drove me crazy
Now I can't forget you and it makes me mad,
Left one day and never came back
Stayed all summer then went back home,
Fell deep in love, but now we ain't speaking
When I met you I said "my name was Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch"

I'd take her if I had one wish,
But she's been gone since that summer..

[I've been] Known to act wild and make girls smile,
you rock my world
You come from Georgia
Dad took off when you were 4 years old
I feel much better baby when you're near
I like the way you laugh when I tell a joke
When I met you "I said my name was Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch"

I'd take her if I had one wish,
But she's been gone since that summer..

I stole your bike

Think about that summer and I bug, cause I miss it
Call you up but whats the use
Came in the door I said it before,I think I'm over you
but I'm really not sure
When I met you I said "my name was Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch"

Summer girls come and summer girls go
Some are worth while and some are so so,
Summertime girls are the kind I like
I stole your bike

Wow. This song is incredibly depressing and demonstrating LFO's tendencies to mentally abuse a girl who's had a rough childhood. Why would they steal her bike?

Analyzing choice lyrics.

"You're the best girl that I ever did see,
The great Larry Bird Jersey 33"

Obviously this summer girl reminds LFO about the Boston Celtics player... they're both great... and Larry Bird's nemesis was Magic Johnson... if you show a hot girl a magic trick she'll think you're a nerd... so a hot girls nemesis is also magic.

Stayed all summer then went back home,
Macauly Culkin wasn't Home Alone
Fell deep in love, but now we ain't speaking
Michael J Fox was Alex P Keaton

What was going through LFO's mind when writing these lyrics: I was there with that girl for the summer, then I had to go home... Home... hey... wait a second... in that movie home alone Macauly Culkin wasn't actually home alone, because there were hilarious robbers that would keep him company, not to mention that old man. He had plenty of company. HE WAS NOT HOME ALONE! WHY HASN'T THIS GIRL CALLED ME! OH MY GOD REMEMBER FAMILY TIES?!

There was a good man named Paul Revere
I feel much better baby when you're near

That Paul Revere warned people of the British. He was a good man. I bet the Americans felt more comfortable when Paul Revere warned them, so they felt safe. I feel safe when this girl is near me, because I'll probably engage in some sort of sex. I would argue Paul Revere and this girl wearing abercrombie are comparable.

Like the color purple, macaroni and cheese,
Ruby red slippers and a bunch of trees
Call you up but whats the use
I like Kevin Bacon,but I hate Footloose

The greatest piece of art about these lyrics is that he is very very specific about what he likes and dislikes... even so far as to go into the one particular Kevin Bacon movie he despises... but he also for some reason likes "a bunch of trees."

I think it's fly...

when girls stop by for the summer. For the summer. What a ridiculously great song.
